Career readiness initiatives at Albany High

Students visiting a booth with their teacher at the career fair

Preparing students for their future careers is a crucial aspect of secondary education. At Albany High, our dedicated teachers and staff offer valuable opportunities to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to successfully enter the workforce.

This week, our Falcons participated in two outstanding events aimed at enhancing their job market readiness.

On Monday and Tuesday, the Department of Labor hosted a resume writing workshop, providing our students with practical, hands-on coaching to help them craft well-prepared resumes.

Then, on Thursday, our main gymnasium transformed into a hub of activity, filled with businesses and employers eager to connect with students, families and community members about summer job opportunities, internships, and more during our annual career fair. Our partners at the Department of Labor played a key role in recruitment and registration of participating organizations, which included:

  • Albany County Civil Service;
  • City of Albany;
  • City of Albany Department of Youth and Workforce Services;
  • City School District of Albany;
  • MVP Healthcare;
  • New York State Department of Corrections & 果酱视频 Supervision;
  • New York State Department of Health;
  • New York State Department of Motor Vehicles;
  • New York State Department of Labor;
  • New York State Thruway Authority;
  • and more!

The event was a resounding success, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Lindsay Simmons, Joey DiPiazza and Jennifer Quinn from our Albany High staff, who played pivotal roles in coordinating this enriching experience.
